ArrivalCxrsxn9.0· February 28, 2025Followlet me start by saying that this movie seems to drag on until it doesn't, but it's getting half a star off for it. for most of the movie i found myself almost getting bored with a sci-fi that seemed to mainly focus on teaching aliens language, while also learning theirs, but this completely flips once the "twist" happens. the ending really ties the whole movie together and gives you a new perspective on the first hour and a half or so that you just watched. once you get it, it seems like all of the emotion hits you at once and the philosophical questions come pouring in. " "if you could see your whole life from start to finish, would you change things?"... there is no right or wrong in my opinion. this movie is the perfect explanation of "it's about the journey, not the destination". louise would rather experience the beauty of raising hannah while knowing the outcome. no matter what the outcome is, louise will make the same choice because those small moments that we experience joy and love in will always beat out the sadness and pain that is inevitably expected. as hard as it is to experience that, i think i'd choose the same as well. and honestly that's just what makes us human and is the beauty behind it all. i really wasn't expecting any movie to get to me this emotionally, but here we are. no clue how denis hasn't won any awards, but his day will come. he truly is a once in a lifetime director.CommentsSign in to react and join the conversation.Sign inGet the app
