List

In Vogue

My list for Letterboxd Showdown Challenge In Vogue: Gird your loins: with The Devil Wears Prada 2 strutting into theaters on red stilettos, we’re taking a page out of Miranda Priestly’s Runway and spotlighting the best contemporary costume design. By “contemporary”, we mean films released within the last 50-odd years (specifically, 1980 or later), with the majority of the action taking place in its respective present day. So, for this Showdown, fashion a list of your ten favorite movies that fit these measurements. This type of costuming can sometimes be overshadowed by the elaborate gowns and frocks of period pieces, but make no mistake—it takes a lot of effort to appear effortless. For apparel inspiration, check out these lists by Cathy, Melissa and Mary.
