The Wind Rises

"Planes are dreams. Cursed dreams, waiting for the sky to swallow them up." I watched grave of the fireflies 2 weeks ago and questioned my right to life. The wind rises reaffirms that I do in fact have that right. People are like planes in the fact that the sky has to swallow you up eventually, you may reach your destination and discover that it may be your end, a parallel that each of these films expresses in its own way. Still, in the words of Jiro and Caproni, "Le vent se lève... ! Il faut tenter de vivre !", we must still seek to survive.
