“I made you look like you could fly”

Some could say that the current ratings that this is getting are blown out of proportion, that theres a certain hyperbolic reaction all over the place that are leading to such positive reviews. But I have to wholeheartedly disagree. It felt as though I was in the cinema for the first time in my life. Where multiple scenes make you think "this is why we go to the movies, this is why I love cinema". I had a similar reaction when I was watching One Battle After Another in IMAX last year, and when these moments come around, when you connect with a film on such a level, when everyone in that room is feeling the same emotions, you remember why cinema is so important. I like to think I go to the cinema more than the average person, but to see so many people come out and watch this spectacle of a film is just incredible. It proves that people are willing to watch original films ( I know its based on a book), and these are the blockbusters that should be pulling in the numbers that those awful Disney Live action remakes do. When you respect your audience, when you build a film on passion, when you make something worth coming out to the cinema for, its just an experience you can't get anywhere else. I understand theres so many films that fit this description and dont get the attention they deserve, but when one breaks through it just feels so damn good. Lord and Miller know what they are doing, Greig Fraser is at the top of his game and Daniel Pemberton delivers a score that rivals that of a certain other Sci-fi film. It all culminates towards a viewing experience that I cannot stop thinking about. Theres a certain scene, which you can probably guess which one, that moved me to tears by just how beautiful it was. Every second just radiates with passion, I can't express that enough. I haven't even mentioned Ryan Gosling, who delivers a performance which feels like a blend of a lot of his past work. The emtionally subtlety of La La Land, the comedic timing of The Nice Guys which all just works together to deliver what feels like a career best performance. I've seen it twice and I want to go again. What I would give to experience this in 70mm IMAX, but hey Im lucky enough to have two local IMAX's so I can't be too greedy.

Quite disappointed I didn’t like this one that much.

Everyone should watch this at least once in their life. Seriously.
