It’s ironic that a man made this considering its message.

The Tree of Life is perfectly imperfect, much like life itself. A film that overstays its visit slightly. A mess with a lacklustre structure that manages to methodically unravel the chapters of a persons childhood and the long lasting impact that forever remains. Less of a narrative film and more of a symbolic montage of life, pairing orchestral music with breathtaking cinematography to produce a truely unique experience. Despite never being fully enthralled while watching, I wasn’t drawn away from the film at any point. I can’t really say I loved this but conversely I can’t identify any major faults. A powerful meditative film that is one of a kind and my favourite from Terrence Malick so far.
