Arrival
I genuinely think this movie has the best sound design in any movie ever. From the deep vibrating alien tones to the eerie silence, the sound doesn’t just support the movie it defines it. It makes everything more epic and more emotionally impactful. Every rumble of the ships and every distorted alien noise pulls you deeper into the atmosphere. The reveal of the aliens is easily one of the greatest scenes in cinema history. The slow build-up, the fogged glass, the tension in the room it’s unbearably suspenseful in the best way possible Visually, the movie is stunning. The cinematography is beautiful, filled with great lighting, wide landscapes, and hauntingly odd extra terrestrial settings that give the film such a grounded but otherworldly feel. The VFX are some of the best ever put to screen seamless and never distracting. The alien ships feel massive and real, and the heptapods themselves look believable in a way that makes the story even more powerful. Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner are phenomenal here. Amy Adams especially delivers one of the most human, emotionally layered performances I’ve ever seen. You feel everything she feels the curiosity, the fear, the grief, the love, the remorse. Jeremy Renner brings warmth and subtle humor that makes their dynamic feel real their chemistry is great. They don’t feel like movie characters; they feel like actual people thrown into an impossible situation. What I love most is how the film explains her perception of time becoming nonlinear. It’s handled in such an intelligent and satisfying way. The structure of the story mirrors that concept beautifully, and when everything clicks into place, it’s mind blowing. The script is top notch thoughtful, philosophical, but still deeply personal. Overall, Arrival isn’t just any sci-fi movie it’s the best sci-fi movie and one of the best movies i’ve ever seen
