Dune: Part Two
I’ve been meaning to watch Dune Part 2 for a while, and now that I finally have wow. This is exactly why I love sci-fi. Dune Part Two is somehow even more epic than the first film. I liked Dune Part One, but this one feels like a complete step up on every level. The scale is bigger, the stakes are heavier, and everything just hits harder. It feels less like setup to a third movie although it still does that brilliantly it’s feels more like a full payoff. The cinematography is absolutely amazing. The desert landscapes feel massive and immersive, and every frame is as cinematic as ever. The story is also way more interesting this time around. Part One was a lot of world-building which I still appreciated, but this one dives deeper into the politics, religion, and the power shifts, and Paul’s evolution. Denis Villeneuve is a genius and one of my favorite modern directors. The cast was great across the board, but Dave Bautista and Zendaya were standouts for me. Dave Bautista brings such a strong presence, and Zendaya really shines here. Everyone else is great too, Austin Butler is almost unrecognizable he’s got a promising career ahead of him. I can’t wait for the 3rd installment.
