A Clockwork Orange
An incredible movie that most people should never attempt to watch.
Picture the political compass meme. If 1984 and Brave New World are on opposite ends of a horizontal “economic” axis of dystopian fiction, this is waaaaay off the amoral deepend of a vertical “moralistic” axis.
Sits with Trainspotting and Fight Club on the top of the mountain of transgressive fiction, its themes may be more pertinent than ever: the importance of choice in goodness and evil, comparitive sins of systemic vs. individual evil, the capacity of state power for monstrosity.
Quote heaven, the nasdat language is incredible. Reading the book almost gave me a stroke.
