The Lighthouse

Modern myth slam dunk, psych horror done right. This movie is what would happen if a German expressionist had a nightmare about lobsters. Today’s equivalent of that old Beckett play about erections and hanging yourself. Just guys having fun! I like Eggers drawing on Proteus and Prometheus for Thomas and Winslow. I like the Coleridge reference and the deranged Mainer accents. I like that everytime I watch this, I imagine it won’t be as disturbing as I remember it, but it still is. I hope to see it in theaters one day
