Dreams
This film is truly beautiful, deeply philosophical and it’s Kurosawa personally expressing himself and his fears throughout this movie, it captures the beauty of life and how meaningful it is.
The cinematography along with the use of vivid, bright colours makes for some of the most stunning visuals I have ever seen, while watching this movie my jaw dropped multiple times as I was blown away by the beauty I was witnessing. The scenes that depict nature are filled with life everywhere and it’s very inspirational, especially in the last dream ‘ The Village of the Water Mills ‘. But the most remarkable part of the visuals is Kurosawa walking through the Van Gogh paintings, this part of the movie was utterly shocking and amazing.
Fear is a common theme in this movie, specifically the fear of nuclear war and humans destroying one another, this is what makes this movie so expressive.
This movie is amazing, and probably the most beautiful film I have ever watched, it was so well made and the pacing of this film is brilliant each dream was just the right length and didn’t drag on. Also I love the cameo from Martin Scorsese I wasn’t expecting it but it was a fun surprise, and he did a great job acting.
I give this movie a high 4.5/5
