The Queen's Gambit

Unexpectedly great, The Queen’s Gambit is a very dialogue heavy miniseries drama about chess. It should have been a boring and dragging one, but oh my god, it was just very engrossing! Absolutely immersive and visually stunning, it wouldn’t have been outstanding if it weren’t for Anya Taylor-Joy’s powerhouse performance and the crazily good performance of the actress who played young Beth Harmon. Remove the two actresses, and it would have just been a mediocre miniseries with only an expertly crafted screenplay and the period setting going for it.  Docked off a half star as it slightly dragged in the fifth episode, but every episode was at least a four star! That was damn good.
