Ikiru
i’ve been wanting to watch Ikiru for awhile now, but the timing has never felt right. i finally watched this film today while i was at work (half of it, then other half home). the timing feels strange and comforting. the last few weeks have been emotionally and physically exhausting. being double-employed and studying makes me feel like i’m stuck on a loop, searching for a way out of my everyday life. i’m here physically, however my mind is elsewhere.
i deeply resonated with this film. all this work for what? for money or stability? what’s stability without experience and life? this film doesn’t focus on finding answers or reflecting on your actions in life with regret. emotional fulfilment comes from kindness to others, embarking on different adventures, and finding ways to grow.
Ikiru is a beautiful film and it has shifted my perspective. came to me at the right moment, everything i needed and exactly what i wanted to see.
