Red Rooms
one of the more deeply unsettling films i’ve seen, and it doesn’t need shock-value imagery to achieve it. a critique on the obsession and fetishization within true-crime culture, as well as the public desensitization towards trauma via media sensationalism and the normalization of voyeurism.
the sound design is phenomenal. the amount of restraint reserved for the protagonist’s intentions is so effective at creating tension. any time kelly-anne and clémentine are on screen together it’s magic. eerie and gut-wrenching throughout.
