Interstellar
‘Because my dad promised me’.
I cry at movies, A LOT. But never has one left me sobbing to the point where I’m left holding my head in my hands, covering my mouth and just feeling tears streaming down my face. God does it hurt so much after the second watch.
This is exactly what I love about sci-fi movies. Yes, they are in space and you get to be witness to amazing things like the scientifically accurate black hole. But it’s also a film about a father and a daughter. How love transcends across worm holes and relativity because when it’s honest love, it will never be affected by time.
I am always in love with the soundtrack of a film but this would 100% be my favourite if not for Project Hail Mary. The constant motif in Cornfield Chase meant I was crying as soon as I heard it on my second watch, and kept crying everytime I heard it after that. It is a piece that eloquently ties together the devestating continuity of this film.
I wonder if my dad would do that for me.
