Bring Her Back
(20/31 Horror movie a day 2025)This genuinely might be the best horror movie I've seen so far this October and might honestly be in the top 10 horror movies I've seen, this shit checks every box for me bro, it hits the main theme really well, the main characters in this movie have depth, the antagonist in this movie has a great motive that ties back into the theme. The monster/supernatural entity in this movie is peak, this shit genuinely had me sobbing at the end. Ive never seen a Philippou's brothers movie before, and your telling me the aussie niggas who made halo vs call of duty, real life mortal kombat fatalities, and ronald mcdonald tries burger king CAN MAKE SERIOUS PEAK HORROR MOVIES LIKE THIS??? The way this movie deals with grief so well, and how people would do anything to bring the ones they loved back, and how they made that into a literal situation with a supernatural curse that is capable of doing that- but with a major price, its executed so beautifully. The sibling dynamic between Billy Barratt and Sara Wong's characters feels so natural and genuine, you get connected to them so deeply. I also have to praise the acting in this movie, for Sara Wong and Jonah Wren Phillips, this is basically their first time in a Hollywood feature film, and they fucking killed it bro, Barratt has had some smaller roles in the past but he also does a fantastic job here. Sally Hawkins she is a little more known, but holy shit she plays a mother in grief so well. The way i can hear the desperation in her voice while trying to manipulate these kids into a safe home is so nice to me. There is also some slight gnarly ass scenes (i.e a nigga biting his skin off like its fucking chicken skin) in there so if your squeamish with gore. Overall watch this fucking movie, its on hbo max IF THERES ANY MOVIE i CAN TELL YOU WATCH ITS THIS ONE
