Bugonia
Bugonia is a movie that leans heavily on its plot twist, and I have to say, it delivered exceptionally well. For some, the twist might feel predictable, but it kept me guessing right up until she leapt out of the ambulance. Yorgos Lanthimos masterfully portrays the two boys as utterly unhinged, and at one point I genuinely believed they were merely mentally ill, so much so that my sympathy shifted entirely to her, and it stayed there until the very end.
The cinematography was stunning. Many of the shots were really well composed, and the use of color created a very immersive atmosphere. The writing was clever and layered, allowing for multiple interpretations. Whether as a critique on the government and corporate power or simply a fun story about aliens, it works both.
Overall, Bugonia is my favorite movie of 2026 so far. It's haunting and dark but a great watch!
