Uncle Frank
The south doesn’t really bleed into the part of Florida I spent most of my youth in as much as it does in other cities. But coming from a religious Roman Catholic family & having been born and raised in South America I think I’m able to say, it’s similar yet not exactly the same. Some parts were incredibly hard to watch, I had to pause it and take a few deep breaths through my sobs just to keep going. Others had me crying but from relief, and joy, and the longing to share something with my family that I might never be able to.
Uncle Frank held my hand, hollowed me out, picked me up, and hugged me tight. I kept waiting, holding my breath, for the other shoe to drop (after the will reading scene) and it never did and for that I am incredibly grateful.
Also, I would gladly take a bullet for Wally. I rarely ever get to see positive representation of lgbt+ people who practice Islam & have a healthy relationship with their faith on screen.
