This was my fourth viewing and I think I can conclusively say that this is now my number one favourite film. I’ve also realised there’s a much larger gap between this and the sequels (definitely Fire & Ash, I’ll rewatch Way of Water soon) than I originally thought. The decision to bring Quaritch back is a big reason for that, his death is incredible here. I also think I hadn’t fully grasped the score before, I’ve recently started watching films with earbuds instead of my laptop’s speakers and it’s made me appreciate sound on a different level.
