Barbie
Ahhhhhhhhhh
alright- now that I can breath and have some time to actually write a review; here we go.
I will stand by the fact that this will be THE cult classic of our generation. we haven't had a good satire in a very long time, and Barbie does it perfectly. I was captured and delighted the whole time! every second was hilarious and eye catching. And while being the funniest movie I have seen in quite some time, it was also so REAL. Every action and word that the patriarchy kens did and said validated every women's icks and feelings ever! And every speech and point that the women made touched on something that I think a lot of women could never put into words.
However, I am disappointed in how this movie and its marketing has turned into a capitalist nightmare, where products are being pumped out left and right and millions and millions of dollars are being put into marketing. The movie's digs at Mattel, while funny and real, are less meaningful when you remember how much money Mattel is making off this movie. It is obvious that Mattel is a more in charge of the marketing of the movie than Greta Gerwig, and the whole thing puts a bad taste in my mouth.
But all that being said bottom line I still think this movie will forever be legendary and amazing, and has brought back the joys of going to see a movie in theatres, the way it was supposed to be watched.
