Past Lives

A beautifully written, thought provoking and awe inspiring film I ve seen since Eternal Sunshine of Spotless Mind (ESOSM) and Aftersun. The film certainly carries the raw emotions quite like Aftersun and has similar themes to ESOSM.  I Loved every aspect of this film, the tension, the subversion of genre expectations and brilliantly breaking the stereotypical rom com tropes.  Every character in this film you meet, you cannot hate, because we are given every opportunity to understand their side and empathise with them. Unlike normal rom coms wherein you’re told from the beginning which character to hate. Past lives does not make anyone the villain but timing itself or just growing up and maturing. Realising that nothing lasts forever, sometimes it’s just not meant to be and that it’s best to let it go.
