Persona
“I think art has an enormous purpose in life. Especially for people who have problems of some kind.”
I have pushed off watching Persona for so long solely because of the intimidation factor. I wasn’t sure if it’d be able to meet such high and unfortunately irremovable expectations. When you watch a film that is so highly regarded such as Persona you obviously hope to like it. So a part of me is just scared to get disappointed and that applies to any film. No one WANTS to be disappointed. Safe to say it’s blown said expectations out of the water.
The bigger picture didn’t hit and become apparent to me until the scene where they’re discussing the son and it was such an indescribable feeling. I suppose I was in awe.
Amazing cinematography. You could create an art museum filled only with shots from this film which is impressive by itself, but even more impressive when you account for the film’s short length.
A blind man could see the passion and creativity put into Persona by Bergman and I’m very curious now to as what the inspiration was for it. So excited to delve deeper into his filmography.
I’d also like to note how GORGEOUS Liv Ullmann and Bibi Anderrson are. I’m 100% copping this Criterion at some point.
