The Witch
I finally got around to watching a film outside of class, wow. It has been FAR too long. Long story short, college is a bitch. I have been yearning for winter break so I have a chance to watch films and not have that looming feeling over me like I could be doing something more important.
So… my review of The Witch. Eggers might just be my favorite working director today. This Puritan era horror has been done countless times because there is endless room to play with religion and witchcraft and things of that nature. Therefore, I always have a fun time with it. Eggers MASTERFULLY plays with guilt and isolation. He clearly has an understanding of the human psyche and he most definitely utilizes that.
ANYA TAYLOR-JOY WITH AN ALL TIME PERFORMANCE. It’s just so damn powerful. If I’m correct I think this was one of her first films if not her first?
God how I love being reminded of the beauty of cinema.
