Someone really needs to give Anno a big ass hug, man. Like, what did this dude go through to write characters like that? The characters here are genuinely so well-written on a psychological level. The music is beautiful, the cinematography is insanely aesthetic, the color grading is gorgeous and once again Anno captures isolation and loneliness in a way that just hits different. Even if you didn't know who directed this, you'd still feel that there's a lot of Evangelion in its DNA.
