Scream
that one friend you try to ignore: hey so did you know that scream was originally going to be called scary movie
my favorite slasher of all time, hands down
the opening scene is for sure one of the most iconic ones
all the references to other horror movies always have me geeking out; i’m a huge fan of how they explain the horror rules and then break them anyway. that’s why randy (jamie kennedy) shouting at the tv for jamie lee curtis to turn around is such a cool meta moment
“watch out, jamie. you know he’s around. you– you know– look, there he is. i told you. i told you he was right around the corner. jamie. jamie. jamie, look behind you”
and the double killer twist!!! like that’s what i’m talking about: “what’s the matter, sidney? you look like you’ve seen a ghost” THAT is how you do a slasher. i’m jealous of anyone who got to see this in the theaters back in 1996
scream influenced horror genre and cinema as a whole so much. truly a movie ahead of its time
