Strait-Jacket
*"Lucy Harbin took an axe.
**Gave her husband forty whacks.
**When she saw what she had done.
*She gave his girlfriend forty-one." 🪓🩸
William Castle delivers one of his sharpest “psychological horror” thrillers, and Joan Crawford elevates it with a performance that is equal parts tragic, terrifying, and campy!
Lucy Harbin, freshly released from an asylum after 20 years for a brutal axe murder, tries to rebuild her life with her daughter, Carol. From the moment Lucy steps back into the world, Castle plays with our expectations. Every glance, every tremor, every hint of relapse makes us (and everyone around her) believe she’s about to murdering again
here’s the crazy twist, it’s not Lucy at all! The killings that follow, like the shocking deaths of Carol’s would-be in-laws, the sanatorium doctor who nearly uncovers the truth are all Carol’s doing. Lucy inherits not just the trauma but the violence, turning the audience’s sympathy and suspicion upside down in one of the era’s most audacious plot twists
ohh gosh I hate and love with the ending. Lucy was revealed as innocent this time, while her daughter embodies the generational curse. Carol did all the killings, using her mother’s trauma so it’ll keep her innocent. Thought Carol was a kind and brave girl in the first, but NAH SHE’S NOT (crying) 😭💔
(p.s i represent this movie to my cinephile friend, Rocky if he hasn’t watch this yet) ✨️
