Vertigo
“Anyone could become obsessed with the past with a background like that!”
Vertigo is a movie that traps you inside someone’s mind, and the deeper you go, the harder it is to breathe. Hitchcock doesn’t just tell a story, but he also hypnotizes you. The colors, the spiral motifs, the haunting score, everything feels like falling in slow motion and straight into someone’s madness
Scottie’s fear of heights (we called it acrophobia) becomes a mirror for his fear of losing control of reality, of the women he loves, of himself. Watching him chase a ghost, rebuild a fantasy, and destroy what’s real in the process, gosh it’s painful, tragic, and yet so mesmerizing 💔
it started from a man named Scottie Ferguson (played by Jimmy Stewart) is asked to follow Madeleine Elster (played by Kim Novak), the wife of an old friend and also a woman seemingly possessed by the past. But as Scottie falls deeply in love with her, her sudden death shatters him completely
months later, he meets Judy, a woman who looks exactly like Madeleine. What begins as grief turns into obsession, as Scottie remakes Judy into the image of the woman he lost, unaware that she’s the key to the truth behind everything
the ending twist? I MEAN LIKE WHYYY, I could say this is more like— wowowow who’s being played by whom? Scottie darling, you’re not that 100% guilty, also for Judy too. Gavin Elster was the real villain, thank you (pls no judge, I’m not normalizing Scottie’s behavior too) 😇🙏🏻
p.s. this is my second rewatch, really love when Hitchcock adds the vertigo effect, also in love with Jimmy and Kim’s sweet chemistry! they looks so cute together oh my God 🥹🫶🏻
