Mirror

„I always said that you resemble my mother.“ Mirror is easily one of the best-looking films I’ve ever seen. It’s everything but normal. From the start the story feels strange and different. It doesn’t feel like a regular film, more like a poem where every scene is a new line. Normally I don’t like stories that jump around in time, but here it feels important for the magical feeling of the film. The characters are great. I really liked that the same actress plays both the wife and the mother, it gives more meaning to both and makes the main character feel deeper. Compared to Stalker, Mirror has a slower pace. I usually don’t like that, but here it fits the tone and atmosphere perfectly. Even if it’s slow, it still feels emotional and powerful. For me, Mirror is a beautiful experience and another great film from a director who might become one of my all-time favorites.
