Peranbu
Some films don’t just speak they stay with you.
Peranbu is one of those rare films that hits you straight in the heart. Ram takes a simple father daughter story and turns it into something painfully honest and deeply humane. Told in twelve poetic chapters, the film uses nature as a metaphor to show the unpredictability, cruelty, and quiet kindness of life.
Mammootty is on another level here , you can literally feel the helplessness, guilt and love of a father trying to understand his differently-abled daughter as she grows into puberty. I bet no other mega star will do this type of role. And Sadhana’s performance is unbelievably real; she doesn’t “act” the role, she lives it.
The film is heavy, no doubt. It’s uncomfortable at times, emotional throughout, and yet it leaves you with a faint glimmer of hope. Ram reminds you that compassion can cut through even the worst chaos, and that love however broken is still love.
Peranbu is not just a film you watch. It’s a film you experience, one that quietly stays in your mind long after the credits roll.
