Fallen Angels
This film was such a delight in every way. The performances of the actors, the color grading, wide angle cinematography, and the night setting.
I think I like Fallen Angels more than Chunking Express. It's just a bit more charming.
Takeshi Kaneshiro's performance absolutely steals the show for me. His physical comedy is so hilarious to watch, and his comedic timing is even better. The scenes where he is filming his father is my favorite scene with him as it really encapsulated his relationship with his father.
The use of color and lighting was so visually appealing to watch as the mix of tungsten and green somehow work perfectly together. It's so visually striking and goes great with the neon lights of Hong Kong's underground night. Reminds me a lot of Osaka in its own way but a bit more grittier.
The wide angle fish eye lens used throughout is so eye catching and attractive to the eye. I think it catches your attention so much because that's fish eye is something that audiences aren't used to seeing within movies to this degree. It keeps you thinking, what kind of wacky/goofy thing Wong gonna through at us next in this scene.
