Shin Godzilla
This was fantastic wow. This is now my new favorite Godzilla film, I liked it more than minus one even. I mean damn this was such a an interesting take on the Godzilla formula, it was super refreshing to see.
My favorite part of this film was the politics of the humans. Everyone in the Japanese government is too worried about the wrong thing to the point where their indecision causes to be deadly, as they pay the price for your lack of a decision. Goes to show the current state of politics and how gridlocked and nowhere lawmakers get. Pretty cool to see that, especially in this current political climate, escspecially in the US.
Everytime the control room was showed, MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR Evangelian vibes holy shit. I felt like Shinji was gonna have to fight Godzilla while crying in the process. I mean holy shit Anno's disaster film style is so present and distinct that I highly recommend people who haven't watched Evangelian to watch an action episode and compare the two. And I mean everything about that was one for one Evangelian, the line delivery, editing, music, characters, IT WAS SO BADASS!!!
Loved the critique of everything too in regards to asking for help from foreign entities due to lack of competency. The US always unnecessarily has to save the ass of another country instead of focusing on home. The dialogue between the Japanese people and their unwillingness towards a third bomb too was very real and honest. Godzilla is the very creation of nuclear warfare and the panic it insues on an entire country. This to me is what this film really symbolizes and why nuclear warfare should never be an option.
