Batman Begins
A simple, but very thrilling beginning to the legendary Dark Knight Trilogy, Batman Begins doesn’t overextend by doing too much of what Christopher Nolan usually does with his films by using incredibly complex concepts, he just keeps things simple with a Batman origin story, a villain, and a very engaging climax.
Rewatching this trilogy made me realise that Christian Bale’s Batman voice was so much better in Batman Begins, it wasn’t too raspy to the point where you don’t understand what he says, and deep enough to mask his real voice, but there were some scenes where for whatever reason he just uses his real voice. Cillain Murphy delivers an amazing performance as Scarecrow, although Christian Bale is, in my opinion, one of the best actors of his generation, Cillain Murphy definitely outperformed him by perfectly making Dr Crane and Scarecrow seem like completely different characters.
There were some issues I had with this movie, one of them being that the movie takes forever to set up, to the point where the actual plot doesn’t even start until like one hour in. Also, Rachel felt like there were elements where she could be an interesting character, but ends up being a damsel in distress and serves no purpose other than being Bruce Wayne’s love interest. And of course, there is the signature Christopher Nolan terrible editing in some scenes where it kept cutting into different characters for a split second then back to the main characters for no reason.
Even though I had some issues with the movie, it is still a perfect introduction to Christopher Nolan’s Batman. Also, Jack Gleeson appearing in this movie gave me ptsd from his role as Joffrey.
