Hokum
Having an actually good horror film is like the second coming of christ to horror fans like me. The cinematography in this film was incredible, there were many shots that were really beautiful. The film was actually felt like a film which is really rare to come by in recent movies.
This film really subverted expectations when it comes to scaring you in every way possible, every jumpscare is very carefully built up and perfectly executed, even when you know there is gonna be a jumpscare, the build up towards it is enough to make you feel incredibly unsettled. The main character made a lot of smart choices, he doesn’t make decisions like most horror movie characters usually do just so a horror scene can happen.
Hokum has one of the best scares I’ve ever seen in a while, whoever made the crying sounds in those scenes definitely deserves a raise.
