Alien: Romulus
This movie is proof we can still make good sequels.
It pays homage to the original films without feeling completely unoriginal. The final act puts its own unique twist on the aliens that comes across very intentional, and genuinely terrifying. Up until that point, it does feel a bit repetitive, but this act wraps up the movie in a truly unforgettable way.
The movie builds tension well, particularly through the setting and cinematography, which are both excellently done. It doesn’t rely on jump scares, but uses those effectively as well.
My only complaint is I wish I had a bit more time with the characters. True, the whole film involved the characters, but I felt like I never truly got to know them. They were always doing something, and I wanted a chance to simply sit with them.
