Memento

" I have to believe in a world outside my own mind. I have to believe that my actions still have meaning, even if I can't remember them. I have to believe that when my eyes are closed, the world's still there. Do I believe the world's still there? Is it still out there?... Yeah. We all need mirrors to remind ourselves who we are. I'm no different."
Memento is a crazy mindf*ck of a movie. The manipulated timeline is fascinatingly immersive with events trying to be guessed every second. Guy Pearce's acting also helps with the immersion of this movie. He embodies this character so well, and I repeatedly empathized with this protagonist and his unfortunate condition. Nolan's direction was masterful in this. I was constantly second guessing what will happen next. The non-linear editing is also very well done. It made this viewing experience like a mixed up jigsaw puzzle. It was amazingly put together. It took me a bit to comprehend everything by the end, but I eventually did and it made the film a very intriguing watch. I'm not ignoring the remarkable cinematography that was beautiful from beginning to end. The work of colors to portray different periods of time before, after, or during a specific event was mind-blowing. I enjoyed the score. It was eerie and haunting, perfectly emphasizing this films tone. Overall, Memento is a layer cake of a movie that brings an intricate plot that is executed wonderfully and features stunning visuals.
