Sing Sing

100/100 🎭 Divine G, imprisoned at Sing Sing for a crime he didn’t commit, finds purpose by acting in a theatre group alongside other incarcerated men in this story of resilience, humanity, and the transformative power of art. Sing Sing is a movie that struck my attention from the moment it premiered. It got a lot of great buzz at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival and the premise struck me. Not only because it was an intriguing idea, but because it was a story taking place in the town next to me. I watched the film today and I must say that this film is something special. The characters are wonderfully developed and delved into. You care for them deeply and the direction and masterful acting performances drive that forward the most. Specifically, Colman Domingo delivers an Oscar-worthy performance. You resonate with his character and sympathize with him during the film. This film also has a lot of heart that helps suck you into this thematic journey. Overall, this film is masterfully made and I hope it gets its flowers at the 2025 Academy Awards. The acting is phenomenal, the story is masterfully put to the screen, and the end product is a very entertaining movie with heavy themes such as faith, hope, love, confession, and redemption. Please watch this film. It's amazing.
