The Alabama Solution

I’m floored. I have not really dipped my toes into the documentary world all that much other than the ones for the Oscar Death Race this year and last. None have really blown my socks off. I really liked some like No Other Land and The Perfect Neighbor, but The Alabama Solution really astonished me. Over the course of 2 hours, this documentary dragged me deep into the raw, brutal, and scarring realities of the prison system, specifically in Alabama. The information was presented in a compelling way that never felt too long or over-explanatory. Walking away, every detail clung to me in a way no other doc has. While it is extremely heavy with its subject matter, it makes for one of the best documentaries I have ever seen.
