The Shining

Hooptober XII: Film 3/35 Based on a Novel #1 😮 I have wanted to watch The Shining for years. Ever since I fell in love with movies and started to care about them, this film has been at the top of my list, especially because horror is one of my favorite genres. Now, after years of not knowing and having the right time to watch it, I finally saw the classic, world-renowned horror masterpiece, The Shining. First, my jaw dropped at the opening shots because of how absolutely stunning they look. The camera work also builds tension so smoothly and gradually that the 2.5-hour runtime feels like it passes in no time. Additionally, Stanley Kubrick's direction is outstanding, resulting in several standout elements, including Jack Nicholson's chilling portrayal of Jack Torrance, the eerie score, breathtaking cinematography, and impeccable editing. Overall, The Shining is a masterful example of perfect filmmaking and has now become one of my favorites.
