Crash
This is one of the best movies I have ever seen, I cannot believe I’ve never watched a David Cronenberg film before this.
It’s absurdly horny, viscerally uncomfortable and yet so captivating, and at no point does the film judge the characters, or impose any kind of feeling or opinion on the viewer - it simply shows it to you, and lets you decide how to feel. I’ve heard that audiences were outraged when this movie came out, and I think it made a lot of people feel something that they just weren’t ready for.
I can’t yet talk about the themes of the movie at length because I’m still reeling from the impact of it all. Fittingly so, this movie is a complete car crash, and I cannot bear to take my eyes off it.
