Anora
Not my favorite Baker film, but it’s clearly not by a wide margin. The way this film is made is fascinating and something I would so want to emulate. Love the way it looks, the way it sounds, the bleak, tense feeling it’s constantly giving me (very safdie esc, especially Good Time). Love Mikey Madison, she is a true star, which is ironic considering that this isn’t the kind of role you would typically associate as a star making role but it certainly is. Might just be the funniest movie of the whole year which is very ironic considering how bleak it is and how depressing the ending is. Absolutely fantastic stuff. Going to be one of my most thought about this year.
