Dog Man

A generally pretty laid back movie where most of it seems to be about how you’re a directionless loser until you get a hobby and find a group of people you can connect with. Magically becoming happier, hotter, and more well adjusted because you found something to be passionate about and a community to spend time with is, actually, very real. There’s a bunch about the general issue of communication that, for me, wasn’t nearly as strong. The exception being the nightmare stand-up sequence where Arnett’s character does the “talk to me like you talk to your friends” bit. And I was cracking up at half the conversations between Laura Dern and Will Arnett. Their faces were always so close and intimate. Very much like the “what are we doing” moments from *They Came Together*.
