Sunshine
*gets kita, sunshine.
*(i say as i don't have a uterus)
but seriously, the sheer depth of the sociopolitical commentary that it offers to us, the filipino audience, is substantial and grounded.
in a country where teenage pregnancy rates remains an underrepresented and overlooked issue, sunshine makes its viewers deal with the fact that this happens to a lot of us—a filipina from avenida or recto experiences the pressures of her circumstance and the failure of the institutions supposed to protect her. it shows the detrimental effects of institutional failure to young people with aspirations and dreams.
kaya, bilang isang pilipino na galit na galit sa gobyerno at sa sistemang naniniil, gets na gets kita, sunshine.
