this was extremely unnerving and unsettling to me because it isn’t about anything supernatural. It’s simply human. honor, vengeance, pride; and what they turn people into. can any type of revenge even be counted as a pyrrhic victory? i don't think so. gengobe, in the name of revenge, loses himself entirely. the film ends on a note of total destruction. he gets his revenge, but it brings him no peace. he murders innocent people and destroys any shred of the man he once was. the final shots emphasize the “asura” path; a cycle of eternal suffering and violence with no exit.
