1917 gave me that great feeling of watching a masterpiece for the first time. I really love the decision they made with the storytelling to have zero cuts and it never gets boring because I was amazed by the cinematography the whole time. The story is simple but very very effective. I also love the character work and dialogue because even if there are silences there are still incredible body language and details. I really respect how the film chose lesser known actors instead of big names. The movie has a perfect blend of intensity and peace. I also love the decision of choosing brutal, realistic action instead of over the top action. The third act was genuinely stunning from a story standpoint and cinematography standpoint. The movie also never hesitates to have silence in the film. Overall I genuinely love everything about this movie from the plot, characters, cinematography, music, acting, action and the unique decision of having zero cuts.
