First Reformed

First Reformed is a brilliant character study that study’s a brilliantly written character. Every scene is so packed with dialogue that just means so much. Every sentence has you thinking over your life. The preformances were also brilliant from Ethan Hawke and all the others but I was pleasantly surprised by Cedric the entertainer because I’m used to seeing him in comedy roles but he did amazing. The cinematography was also really nice by giving us mostly still wide shots. The message this movie carries is so deep and it deals with issues like religion, mental health, the future, alcoholism and ecology issues. The final scene was so intense and crazy but the ending was kinda lazy. I like to believe that when the movie ended, Ethan Hawkes character died right after. I’m just gonna keep telling myself that so I can give this movie a 10/10. Overall this movie packs so much punch and deals with so many different topics of things we need to change, also brilliant writing and cinematography this is definitely a 10/10 but I wouldn’t watch it again Plot 9 Acting 10 Characters 9 Dialogue 10 Music 7 Ending 7 Personal attachment/ cozy 7 Rewatchable 7 Cinematography 9 Emotional impact 10 85
