Interstellar
As someone who’s not a big fan of space films and who resisted watching this title for a long time, I have to admit that this film is a MASTERPIECE.
Technically: a work of art. Stunning cinematography, outstanding set design (the planets were portrayed perfectly), and some of the best special effects in film history (the scenes inside the black hole or the destruction of the Endurance – hats off).
Hans Zimmer’s music is iconic and brilliant. It’s no wonder it’s considered one of the best film scores ever composed (how did Hans not win an Oscar?!).
The story itself is also world-class. A brilliant depiction of time from a unique, futuristic perspective. The themes are powerful and well-executed – with the relationship between father and daughter standing out as the emotional core of the film.
Also, an excellent cast led by Matthew McConaughey, with many unforgettable scenes that didn’t rely on visual effects – yet were beautiful, emotional, and have rightly become legendary.
Together with Inception, this is Christopher Nolan’s magnum opus
