Barfi!
It's not just Anurag Basu's refreshing take on Barfi's character and his story that makes the movie very amazing, but also the very natural and to-be-expected shots in the movie, too. For example, in the climax, we see the photos of the three, Shruti, Barfi and Jhilmil, but the portion that contains Jhilmil has been folded down, such that Jhilmil is not visible at all and only Shruti will be seen with Barfi. See, we all know that Jhilmil is an autist and it was never her fault that Barfi broke up with Shruti. It was Shruti's fault. She was already engaged, and that's why both could not be in a relationship. But still Shruti has this jealousy inside her, concerning Jhilmil. In fact when miraculously Jhilmil also dies with Barfi, we don't see Shruti lamenting over Jhilmil's death at all, instead she rebukes it, and everytime says that she could have been in place of Jhilmil. This is what I found most bound-to-happen thing ever written in this movie. Anurag tends to make Shruti the most original and human character ever! That's why, in my eyes, Shruti is a really outstanding female character written by a man.
Talking about acting, this is the best casting arrangement I have ever seen in my life. Ranbir Kapoor nailed it with his goofy-ass role, and Ileana was gorgeous! Priyanka Chopra deserves an Oscar for this role, because playing an autist with disoriented speaking, and getting stuck in the mud, is not too easy. She had done a really great in-depth analysis of how an autist would actually act like.
