rewatched in 4dx, almost died to zeus’ rage

Wow, wow, wow. Where do I even start? Preface - I like Nolan's movies and I am of the thought that this film is extremely overhated just because it's Nolan. I don't think I've ever had such a great theatre experience since I went and watched Interstellar in IMAX when it re-released. This film is LOUD AS FUCK. I could visibly see the screen shaking. I don't even know where to begin - everything is so meticulously done. From the sound design and the beautiful soundtrack by Ludwig Göransson to the insane cinematography - the entire runtime is filmed on 70mm IMAX film which is diabolical. Nolan filmed it inside a special box which deafens the loud sound of these cameras, it's actually so geeky (yes, I know, I'm being all 🤓☝🏻). I understand the criticisms of this film, a lot of people don't like the original work by Homer, and this retelling changes as well as completely removes a lot of things (Achilles???), but I'm writing and rating this purely from an experience point of view, which it delivers on massively. Probably one of my favourite films this year, apparently he's working on horror next, which will be...interesting.

??? what This is such a nothing burger. There’s no substance or soul to this, it just feels very ‘made for the sake of having a film about this’. Short form content exists for a reason and you cannot just ‘expand’ it into long-form medium without thinking a lot - and this just feels half-baked. Credits where they’re due - the set design is insane, no CGI used. The cast did a decent enough job with the shit script they were given. But honestly, that’s about it. I don’t see a reason why this exists, and I don’t like how it’s so blatantly being set up to be some sort of expansive universe. Kane Parsons, you got potential but you really gotta focus on the script next time😭

AND I NEED YOU NOW TONIIIIGHT AND I NEED YOU MOOOORE THAN EVERRRR
