Faces
I'm at a loss for words. My second Cassavetes film ever, and I feel as though my life has already changed. I feel like I was born yesterday, as if this was the first real movie in the world, and everything else was a lie. The acting is so astonishing that I can't imagine how this was shot other than the camera being held by literal ghosts or fruit flies. The soul of the art is unmatched—this is raw as it gets—the rest is imitation. On just the first viewing, Faces affected me deeply, and I feel like I will be rewatching this many times. I must've been starving myself of art all along.
