The Code
I could feel my sacral chakra healing as I was watching this film. Makes me never want to watch anything else if it's not done like this. What Eugene Kotlyarenko went for is not new, but it might be the only film I've seen where it works this flawlessly. It's so mentally and artistically refreshing that I fantasize about watching this film first thing in the morning and blessing myself with it before I start my days. The subtext is weird, and it's not a great read, but that doesn't really matter. Every jarring creative choice is seamlessly integrated into the storytelling. The chaos is not obnoxious or on the nose; it's inspired and therapeutic. There are many moving parts, but it's never difficult to keep track of what is going on. It's also actually funny. I just want more of this.
