Boyhood
This is everything. This is life. These are the moments we remember.
So beautiful. It’s so small when you think about everything going on in the world but that’s what makes it so real and important.
It’s figuring everything out as we go along both in adolescence and in adult hood.
Linklater says something in the bonus features about there is a point when you stop growing up and start aging. And I love that we get to see both things in this movie with the kids and the parents.
It also does such an incredible job of capturing the times.
Examples include:
-Dragon ball and the Disney skating game for the game boy is legendary
-Harry paper book events
-The way that guy said Obamas full name with emphasis on Hussan. HA!
-The lady Gaga music video!
- lol at the Star Wars convo talking about if they make another one it wouldn’t be after 6. Ohhhhhh
It highlights so many different characters and much like life those people are important for a moment and then not important at all. or come back in special ways
Like I Love the manager of the restaurant. When he said I believe in you and then came to the graduation party! So sweet.
Another important convo at the end between father and son about the feelings after a break up and the response being “You feel something. That’s good because as you get older your skin gets thicker and you start feeling less” like that is so real. And then this is followed by the son asking what’s the point to life and the response is idk! Then the next scene is the guy that worked on their house and the mother inspired him and now he thriving. Like that’s part of the point! Being kind and genuine to the people we come in contact and not even knowing how that ripples out.
“I just thought there would be more” ugggghhh time is so slow and so fast. And life is slow and fast. Ugggggh!
Its constant. The moments are always right now. And all life is are a bunch of moments.
It’s crazy because not a lot interesting happens in this and yet it’s having such an effect of me.
THATS A GOOD MOVIE!
